Thanks for the comment. Good points made....Ross,

Thanks for the comment. Good points made. For the most part, people are not turned away from treatment. ERs have to treat patients notwithstanding insurance coverage or ability to pay. Sure, ERs are left holding the bag and that is passed on to insured patients in some way. With costs of treatment rising and insurance premiums following suit, it may be that the best solution is limiting the jury verdicts for malpractice claims. The higher the cost of being a doctor, the higher the charge to the patient to justify it as a career.

One thing that is for sure, something needs to be done to address the rising costs of our healthcare system.Matt Hornsbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11993284549487284133noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3708610971630541261.post-72632709739065163512012-04-28T09:07:53.446-05:002012-04-28T09:07:53.446-05:00Nice summary; I too think the act won't pass (...Nice summary; I too think the act won't pass (at least the individual mandate portion). I understand the philosophical loyalty to the conservative position--it doesn't sound right to be forced to purchase something. But this "product" is of a different nature, isn't it?

As you stated, we are all (at some point) a consumer of healthcare. It is unlike car ownership. If you are alive, then you are already a player in that economic system. Requiring a modest contribution into this system may not seem American, but I'm beginning to think that such loyalties to nation are clouding very simple (and achievable) ideas.

If you take away all the labels--conservative/liberal/right/left--can't we agree that no one should be turned away because they can't afford the ridiculous prices of healthcare?RevRossReddickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14772794227951737596noreply@blogger.com
